Lung reduction surgery
Brisbane Waters Private Hospital will perform the first lung function reduction surgery on the central coast next month.
The surgery is aimed at improving the quality of life for emphysema sufferers.
The procedure was only recently pioneered in Sydney.
Brisbane Waters Private Hospital chief executive officer, Mr Graham McGuinness said the hospital has been responsible for introducing a high level of hospital care in the area.
He said the hospital had established itself as the Central Coast's critical care centre and the Peninsula could be proud to have such a first class facility available.
The hospital also performs by-pass surgery and cardiac angiography.
