Country club starts extensions
The Everglades Country Club has started extensions and renovations valued at over $2 million.
Established in 1957 and with over 6000 members, the Everglades Country Club in Woy Woy will be totally refurbished and will have additions of a new members' amenities building and a new pro shop.
The refurbishments will provide a new central foyer, main bar, gaming area, TAB lounge, and a renovated auditorium, an expanded main lounge and upgraded food areas.
Secretary-manager Mr Wayne Dean said: "The objective is for the club to be one of the best sporting facilities on the Central Coast.
"The club is already a community asset with three full size bowling greens and an 18 hole golf course in an urban area. This cannot be repeated elsewhere."
He said members could be "even prouder of their club" once the renovations were completed.
"However, while they are in progress there may be some disruption to normal activities and their patience will be appreciated," he said.
The project management is being undertaken by local company, Raybal, with work being given to local tradespeople.
Club president Mr Brian Crawley said he was pleased that the work had commenced and looked forward to completion by the end of September.
"Peninsula residents will then be able to add yet another top class facility to their long list of such facilities in the area," he said.
