Carers sought

Short-term and long-term foster carers are being sought for a number of children and young people on the Peninsula.

A typical example is "Jane", a teenage girl who goes to a Peninsula school and is dealing with normal teenage issues.

In her case, Jane cannot live with her family for a variety of reasons and so needs another family to support her while she completes her schooling and attempts to become a young adult leading a normal life.

Unfortunately, Jane is only one of several children and young people on the Peninsula who currently need families to live with because they are unable to return to their own families.

The NSW Department of Community Services (DoCS) is now seeking expressions of interest from people who could care for children and young people like Jane.

As well as long term care, DoCS also need carers on a crisis, short term and respite basis.

Training, remuneration and support is offered to foster carers.

The Central Coast Substitute Care Service at Woy Woy co-ordinates and supervises these placements.
