Crowds watch Woy Woy and Umina clash

The much-awaited clash of Peninsula teams Woy Woy and Umina brought a large crowd to Woy Woy oval, friends and neighbours became the best of enemies for the afternoon.
First grade: The first half saw a hesitant Roosters team outplayed by a more enthusiastic Bunnies side.
Roger Best and Duncan Smith maintained their solid form to hold the Roosters together.
The first half was also marred by the serious knee injury to centre Dave Piggins.
Piggins had earlier laid on a Hayden Berry try with sheer class.
The second half saw a rejuvenated "J&B Meats" Roosters attack the tiring Umina side.
The turning point being when five eighth Nathan Johnson slipped a pass to Danny Sommerville from a seemingly impossible position to score under the posts.
From then on with more possession and go forward, Woy Woy got their act together and in the end won convincingly 40-16.
Umina, however, if they can field their best, will be a thorn in the side of all teams they meet.
Second grade : An all-round team performance blitzed the Bunnies 72-0.
After 10 minutes of play the game was scoreless before the Roosters laid on an avalanche of tries.
Brad Matthews, Shane Ward and captain Justin Louis orchestrated the attack with precision plays to score from almost any position of the field.
Viliame Vakhotia, Mitch Berry and Scott Aitchison finished off what the play makers started.
Bruce Carr provided great variation around the rucks against the well beaten Bunnies.
Third grade: A sluggish start gave coach Steve Waugh many anxious moments against a very willing Umina team.
Joe Lynch and Layne Martin provided great go forward for the Roosters before a "five star" finishing effort by Stu "Frenchie" Farrant out wide gave the Roosters a very vital two points.
Kym budd and Luke Marshall with Ben Starkey leading the way provided the crowd with heart stopping charges into the opposition as both sides fought hard to dominate over the rivals, Woy Woy being victorious 22 to 8.
Under-18
The predicted "game of the day" proved to be just that for the Video Ezy under-18s Woy Woy side.
Against the much-vaunted Umina team, Woy Woy started unusually fast and aggressively going to a 10-0 lead mid-way through the first half.
In a fast-moving entertaining game, both team traded blows in more ways than one in a tense first half.
The second half saw a spirited fight-back from Umina to lead 12-10 before the young Roosters regained momentum to record a thrilling 20-12 victory with an outstanding team effort from all players.
Troy McLellan and Nathan Parrin continued their fine form and Scott Wilesmith and Jason Stuart were welcomed back to the Woy Woy colours.
The first time in red and white saw Brad McLean and Aaron Mercer produce some extremely exciting play for coach Neil Pollard who has done well with these young men who some thought would not be competitive this year.
There is still a long way to go but they have shown they are willing to learn and don't want to take a backward step.
Congratulations to Jason Carpenter of Woy Woy and under-18 Michael Maryska of Umina for their inclusion in the Country sides to tour New Zealand.
