Park takes tourism award

For a remarkable fifth consecutive year, East's Ocean Beach Caravan Park at Umina has taken out the Central Coast Tourism Award for Excellence in the caravan/camping category.
The award is a reflection of the Park's high standard of customer service and commitment to innovation.
The award caps off a highly successful 12 months for the resort, who were also 1998 winners of the prestigious NSW Tourism Award for excellence and the Camping and Caravan Industry Award.
Since their purchase in 1982, Easts' have transformed the park from a traditional venue to a "state-of-the-art" tourist park.
Their philosophy of on-going development has seen the introduction of cabins, five-star villas, loft apartments and a half million dollar swimming pool facility.
It has also gained Easts the reputation within the industry as leaders in their field.
Combined with this development, Easts still caters for the more basic tent and caravan market and sees itself as a venue with something to offer for tourists on all levels.
This is reinforced by the Park's high retention rate of clients and enormous level of repeat business.
Despite its success, many Peninsula residents are yet to take advantage of Easts facilities.
Park spokesperson Barbara Ketley claims "the locals know less about this park than the tourists."
Easts are striving to reverse this trend.
Continuing plaudits from the tourism industry and intensive local promotion are seen as the catalyst for luring greater numbers of Peninsula residents to include this local asset in their holiday plans.
