Concern over Olympic rubbish

The Correa Bay Water Quality Sub-Committee is concerned material from the Olympic site in Sydney may be reaching Woy Woy tip.
Although it has not been proved, the committee’s chairperson Mr Derrick Britton raised the issue with Gosford Council.
In a summary of findings handed to Council, the committee said they also believe the Bay’s marine life and seagrass has declined over the past two decades and that sediment reaching the bay has most likely come from quarries in the area.
The water quality committee was set up after the recent issue of tip leachate entering Correa Bay.
The committee will table a full report to Council in July.
