Baker wins more medals

Bremen Patisserie of Umina have added another two medals to their tally in the "Great Aussie Meat Pie" and "Gourmet Meat Pie" Competitions, bringing their total to seven over a period of three years.
The competitions are in their tenth year and were held in conjunction with the Melbourne Foodservice Exhibition at the Exhibition Centre.
They are regarded as the most prestigious pie competitions in Australia and over 1000 entries were received from around Australia.
The medals won by Bremen Patisserie were a silver in the Chicken Gourmet category and a bronze for their lamb and curry gourmet pie.
This follows their four bronze medals in 1998 and their silver in the most competitive plain pie category in 1997.
Bremen also won a first prize at the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year for their baking.
Proud proprietor Mr Ron Bruns said: "I learned my craft from a master craftsman in Bremen, Germany, and combined this with what has been learned in Australia to produce my famous pies.
"They don’t have meat pies in Germany, so it’s the combination that has worked.
"I am proud of our product and hope that it has helped put Umina and the Peninsula on the map".
