Council papers on the internet

Cr Geoff Row has asked council officers to consider putting Council Business Papers on the Internet.
More of the community now had access to the Internet and it seemed appropriate that council business papers should be electronically accessible, said council officers.
The officers said: "The general community is becoming more interested in local government matters and council has shown over the last couple of years a willingness to communicate better with the community that it serves."
Council manager, Mr Hart, said documents for publication on the Internet will need re-engineering to take account of the difference between Internet, and hard copy reading.
Mr Hart said he expected a user friendly Internet version to be available in June next year.
The director said a Web Steering Committee has formed to manage the redevelopment of council's existing web site.
The director said council publications targeted for electronic dissemination include council's regular Agenda, the Annual Report to Ratepayers, Corporate Plan, State of the Environment Report, Plans of Management for Coastal Wetlands, Land Management Strategies and associated council policies.
All these reports were currently available from council for public perusal.
