Cross country carnival held

Umina High School's cross country carnival and fun run was held in excellent weather on the morning of Thursday, May 20.
A total of 503 competitors lined up at Ocean Beach SLSC to participate in the annual School Golden Circle sponsored carnival.
The course was 4.4km return loop along the beach and Esplanade to Ettalong.
The SRC did a wonderful job of providing a barbecue for the participants, officials and volunteers.
All competitors also received a sample bag of Golden Circle products including juice and fruit packs.
All students participated in the spirit of the event and some excellent individual performances were recorded.
All runners who finished in the top eight for their age group were selected to participate in the school cross country team to compete at the Brisbane Water Zone Carnival on Monday, May 31.
Of the runners, 209 students were sponsored and, being so, have raised money for Camp Quality for children with cancer, Environmental Education and for the school to purchase new sporting equipment.
These students also have secured for themselves prizes depending on the amount of money they raised.
