Traineeships offered by club
The Ettalong Beach Club has formed a partnership with Ourimbah College of TAFE and will offer Level 3 traineeships and Level 4 Certificate courses in Hospitality from July.
Initially 15 existing staff members will undertake the Level 4 Certificate course, while 10 staff members will commence traineeships.
The club has also taken this opportunity to employ five people from the community as trainees, assisting these people in starting a career in Hospitality.
The courses have been developed with the assistance of Helen Ward, the head teacher of the Food & Beverage Division of Ourimah TAFE.
A feature of both courses is that they allow flexibility for each student to fit the course around their work commitments.
The club had found that long hours and shift work had precluded many staff from undertaking tertiary education.
The courses will be conducted over 12 months, requiring the participants to undertake training on the TAFE campus as well as on site at the club.
The partnership developed by the club and the Food & Beverage Division of Ourimbah TAFE will enable students to complete their training within 12 months in modern, state-of-the-art facilities, as well as working in one of the most advanced clubs in NSW.
The development of this program has secured full time employment for 15 Central Coast residents.
Following the initial training course, it is envisaged a further 15 traineeships will be available in the new year, as well as additional educational opportunities for existing staff.
The initiative follows many months of investigation by the club of recognised training courses which allow existing staff to develop their careers.
