Management plan comments released
Gosford Council's general manager has released comments from the Umina Workshop of the Gosford City Management Plan (GCMP) 1999-2004.
The GCMP includes the documents; the Draft Corporate Plan, interim Capital Works Program, Council's Recurrent and Operational Budget, State of the Environment Report and Revenue Policy.
The Umina Public Workshop members agreed that there was more need for evening and weekend workshops to cater for commuters who want involvement in the public workshop.
The workshop complimented Gosford Council on its good customer relations and they were happy with the continued use of live telephone operators as opposed to code operated electronic reception (entering numbers on the telephone keypad to reach certain departments).
Also, members of the workshop showed concern that the public had a perception council made decisions without enough opportunity for the community to become involved.
Council's general manager said: "Confidential meetings are generally only held for issues that are commercial in-confidence.
"Community involvement is encouraged and the community is also encouraged to write to or contact council concerning issues they want investigated," he said.
Members of the workshop raised questions about the water quality of the Everglades lagoon and the reasons for its contamination.
The last exhibition period for the GCMP was between April 16 and May 14.
The documents were available from Council's public enquiry counter and Peninsula libraries.
The workshop meeting was at Umina in late April.
