Our party arrived late on a Wednesday night and started to order as the remaining customers left.

Although we were a little late, there was no sign from the staff that we were not welcome. We did not feel rushed.

By the end of the night we had met and been introduced to the owner, A.J and waiter, Dora. Their personalised service and interesting chat was not intrusive and was welcomed.

The waiter delivered our Bombay Beef and Chicken Korma meals quickly and they tasted good. The sauce on the food was exquisite and thick. Although the meals appeared small at first, we found they satiated our hunger well, especially as they were served with a generous helping of rice.

Eaten with the delicious extras of Naan bread, papaddums and Tandoor Roti, we found our party of four could have taken a doggy bag home each. A word of warning – some may find medium hotness a little too spicy. Just make sure your dog can handle the heat. If you are unsure, try the mild.

A.J was kind enough to give us an extra course, ‘on the House’ of Butter Chicken. The meals are well priced at about $11 each. We found that spending about $20 each was more than enough and with a bottle of red wine (I recommend Poet’s Corner), it was an evening well spent.

Gandhi Restaurant also have a banquet special from Monday to Thursday nights, where you can eat as much as you like for only $16.90 a head.

I do not know what the coloured mix of sweets on the counter is called, but A.J. insisted that we try it after we had paid the bill. If A.J. asks you to try it, I recommend that you do. It seems to be some type of Indian traditional lolly. We found it to have a sweet taste, like peppermint flavoured candy that left a refreshing taste in the mouth
