The Peninsula Community Forum last year recommended the introduction of a newspaper specifically for Peninsula residents.

They felt that Peninsula residents deserved a bigger voice than that which was currently available to them and saw several additional benefits being possible as a by-product from such a venture.

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Committee decided to support this concept and to actively encourage its development.

As a result, The Peninsula Community Access Newspaper Inc. was formed as a non-profit organisation whose task it was to develop the newspaper.

The on-going hard work of that Committee has now been rewarded by the launch of The Peninsula News.

Our community can be justifiably proud to have its own newspaper, particularly one of such quality and professionalism.

The Peninsula News concentrates on all matters likely to be of interest to Peninsula residents and businesses.

It is non-partisan and non-political and welcomes input from all members of the community.

We are pleased to show our support by including our newsletter in this history-making first edition.

This can only add to the informative nature of the publication and be of further benefit to readers.

I expect that The Peninsula News will quickly become the most cost-effective avenue for businesses to reach Peninsula residents with their messages.

For this reason and for the community benefit that the paper will provide, I urge members and non-members alike to give their support to The Peninsula News.
