An appeal to raise $35,000 for a computer centre at Ettalong Public School has been launched by the school’s parents and citizens association.

A computer room is planned with links to a computer in each classroom.

With internet access, the project would be designed to help all pupils become computer literate. It is hoped that tutoring programs for parents would also be available.

Parents are constructing a "thermometer" board to illustrate progress towards the appeal target.

Fund-raising efforts planned by the P&C include stalls, a monster fete, a bush dance and bowling alley days. The association is hoping that parents with any other ideas will attend the association’s next meeting on Wednesday, March 17.

Contacts in computer companies or businesses upgrading their computer systems are sought, together with volunteers willing become involved in working bees to lay cables.
