Petition about garbage bins

Gosford Council has received a petition from shop owners in Umina about the use of garbage bins to vandalise shop windows.

The petition, with 48 signatures, stated that securing the bins would "eliminate vandals taking the garbage bins out of the stands and using them as missiles to smash shop windows".

The petitioners further stated that security methods had been installed on the garbage bins outside Woy Woy Railway Station.

They asked that council secure the garbage bins along West St and cross streets of Umina.

The petition was referred to council's engineering services department.
