SRC inducted

The Student Representative Council of the middle school campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College were inducted into office in front of their parents at the beginning of this month's P&C meeting, in keeping with tradition, according to college principal Mr Pat Lewis.

All 24 students were presented to the audience by teacher-in-charge Mr Larry Thomson and campus principal Mr Frank Gasper.

Mr Gasper reminded the students that they had been elected by their fellow students to be their representatives and that the field of candidates had been very large and strong.

He called on the SRC members to be leaders of the student body and work to bring credit to the campus and to the college.

Inducted into the office of campus captains were Amy Stables and Ben Breardon while vice-captains inducted were Bethany Leggett and Mitchell Jewell.

The remaining 20 members consisted of two Year 8 students and three Year 9 students from each of the college's four houses.

"Year 7 members are to be elected later in the year when they have come to know each other better," Mr Lewis said.

Following the induction, all present were treated to a light supper while SRC members entered their names into the SRC register which contains the names of former members right back to the start of Umina High School.
