Classic movie evening

Pearl Beach will be holding a classic movie evening on Saturday, November 12.

The main attraction is "Black Orpheus" the French classic and winner of an Academy Award in 1959, plus Avoca's Little Gem

This French Classic, directed by Marcel Camus, sets the old tale of Orpheus and his love for Eurydice in the carnival of Rio and the shanty towns on the hills above.

The music composer, Antonia Carlos Jobim, went on to write "The Girl from Ipanema".

The event will also feature "Avoca's Little Gem", an exposition of the struggle to keep Avoca theatre open.

Filmed by local moviemaker and artist, Mike Rubbo, it provides footage past and present of the Avoca area.

The event will take place at Déjà vu, the Pearl Beach Art House cinema, in the community hall, 9 Diamond Rd, Pearl Beach.

Tickets cost $10 and the movie will start at 7.30pm.

Movie meal deals are also on offer from the Pearl Beach Café, at $25 for one course or $30 for two courses, both with movie ticket.
