Funny Money at Little Theatre |
Woy Woy Little Theatre will perform a play entitled "Funny Money" at the Peninsula Theatre between February 25 and March 13.
In the play, written by Ray Cooney and directed by Fran Kendall, a character named Jean is preparing a birthday dinner for her mild-mannered accountant husband.
When he arrives, he is not himself and suggests they immigrate to Barcelona.
The reason is that the husband has found a briefcase containing £735,000 pounds.
Other guests at the dinner are forced into a game of cat and mouse when two inspectors call in.
The cast includes Cathy Stone as Jean Perkins, Graham Vale as Henry Perkins, Christine Vale as Betty Johnson, Peter Santangelo as Vic Johnson, John Hickey as Slater, Steve Pearson as Bill the taxi driver and Mike Jeffries as Davenport.
Writer Ray Cooney began his theatrical career in England as a boy actor in "Song of Norway" at the Palace Theatre in 1946.
He served his apprenticeship by playing various British repertory companies before graduating to Brian Rix's company at the Whitehall Theatre in 1956.
He has been responsible as producer or director of over 30 London productions.
In 1983, he formed the Theatre of Comedy Company and became its first artistic director.
Tickets for the play cost $19, concession $16 and $6 for children.
The booking office opens February 14 from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.
