Don serves Rotary for 20 years

Don Tee has been recognised for his 20 years of continuous service to the Rotary Club of Woy Woy.

Even before he joined the Rotary Club of Woy Woy, Don was a charter member of the Woy Woy Rotaract club, formed in 1971, where he twice served as President.

He joined the Rotary Club of Woy Woy in 1982, and again served twice as President.

His achievements over the past 20 years have been many, according to club spokesman Mr Ross Pearse.

Mr Pearse said that while Don Tee was president in 1985-86, he instigated a number of projects.

These included the Neighbourhood Watch program on the Peninsula, the presentation of engraving tools to the Woy Woy police for local residents to identify their property, and the sale of First Day Covers at the new Umina post office and Ettalong post office.

He also oversaw fund-raising through Melbourne Cup activities and the fun run, known as the Woy Woy Canter.

"Don has served in the positions of director of club service, vocational, community and youth services, and is currently club vice president," said Mr Pearse.

"His dedication has twice been recognised by Rotary International, through the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow medal in 1992 and a Sapphire Pin in 2000."

Throughout Don's involvement in numerous activities, from organising free tea and coffee at the Anzac Dawn service to his involvement in the renewal work at Anderson Park, Don Tee embodied the Rotary motto of "service above self", said Mr Pearse.
