Party guide for parents
Parents at Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus have been given "A hassle-free party guide for parents of teenagers".
The guide, published in the college newsletter, was intended to emphasise the issues to be aware of when hosting parties for teenagers and gives simple steps parents can take to ensure parties in the home are safe.
The guide is part of a project being coordinated by the Alcohol and Other Drugs Service and Central Coast Health to reduce end of year youth alcohol-related harm.
This project was a collaborative effort run in conjunction with Youth Health Service, Health Promotion Unit and HIV/Sexual Health service, local youth agencies, the Department of Education and Training, District P&C, Premiers Department and Brisbane Waters Police.
"A high profile media campaign targeting young people on the Peninsula is planned to be implemented from October to December 2002," the newsletter claimed.
The campaign aimed to highlight the link between unsafe sex and alcohol misuse, how young people could reduce harm associated with alcohol misuse at end of year parties and how parents could host a safe party.
