Fireworks planned for New Year's Eve

 

A fireworks display and a carnival is planned for Umina Oval on New Year's Eve.

An initiative of the Rotary Club of Umina Beach, the event will be a family and alcohol free event.

There will be lots of rides, food, novelty stalls, showbags, stick lights and a carnival atmosphere starting at 6pm with a fireworks display at 10pm.

The fireworks will be conducted by Skyworks International, a Central Coast pyrotechnic company.

Major sponsors for the event are Gosford Council, IGA Umina, McDonalds Woy Woy, Club Umina and Everglades Country Club.

Other local sponsors include G&B Mitre 10 Hardware Umina Beach, Raine & Horne Real Estate Umina and Woy Woy, Richardson & Wrench Real Estate Umina, Century 21 at Umina, Empire Bay Estate Agency and other local businesses.

Last year, the event attracted around 12,000 people.

Security will be in the hands of NSW Police Service as well as private security guards.
