Youth Advisory Council consults at Umina |
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) met in Umina on Friday, December 6, to speak to young people and youth service providers about their issues and concerns.
Minister Assisting the Premier on Youth, Ms Carmel Tebbutt, said the 12-member YAC played a vital role in bringing the views, interests, and concerns of young people to the NSW Government.
The council consulted with Central Coast young people earlier this year in the formulation of a youth policy and the group is now returning to the area to provide an opportunity for further feedback.
"We have listened to young people and heard their concerns on issues as far ranging as transport options, support during tough times, achieving their potential, and entertainment options in remote areas," said Ms Tebbutt.
"I encourage young people on the Central Coast and throughout NSW to contact the council on issues of interest or concern."
The Council undertook consultation with 500 young people in 17 locations across the State in the formulation of its youth policy.
