Plan includes $13m embellishment works

The Peninsula Open Space and Recreation Contributions Plan includes $13 million of "embellishment" works, as well as the contentious $27 million land purchase proposal.

The total contribution to be made by developers would be $3279 per person on new developments.

It is based on a projected population increase of 12,387 people.

The embellishment works are split into beach works ($1 million), foreshore and waterways ($2.9 million), bushland ($0.5 million), indoor and aquatic ($5 million), structured recreation ($0.4 million), sportsgrounds ($1.2 million), regional parks ($1.5 million) and local parks ($0.5 million).

Of beach works, more than half ($540,000) is for dune revegetation, while more than $340,000 will be spent on beach access and landscaping around the surf clubs.

Also included are environmental interpretation, signage, picnic tables, seats and barbecue areas.

Foreshore works include a Woy Woy-Ettalong cycleway path ($549,435) and $500,000 embellishment works at both the Ettalong waterfront and Burge Rd, Woy Woy.

The fishing platform at Woy Woy bridge would take $300,000 from the plan, while a new boat ramp at Kourung St would take $250,000.

Reconstruction of the Umina Beach ocean pool, an upgrade of the Blackwall Point boat ramp and works at Brickwharf Rd, each costing $200,000 or more are also included.

The bushland works are split between Mt Ettalong and Blackwall Mountain, with picnic tables, seats and signs, interpretation and restoration.

The $5 million indoor and aquatic allocation would go to construction, additions and improvements to the planned Leisure and Aquatic Centre in Blackwall Rd.

The structured recreation allocation would go to netball courts at Lemon Grove, as well as to BMX and skate facilities.

Umina and Woy Woy ovals would receive more than half the sportsgrounds allocations.

Other ovals to benefit would be James Browne, McEvoy and Ettalong, as well as Rogers Park.

Expenditure on parks would include $500,000 at Kitchener Park, $250,000 each at Umina Oval and Trafalgar Ave playground, and $200,000 each at Lions Park, Woy Woy, and Florida Ave playground.

An upgrade to Pelican Park, Woy Woy, would cost $100,000.

A further $570,000 would be spent on upgrading seven playgrounds in local parks and upgrading five pocket parks without playgrounds.

A sum of $40,000 is provided for a review of the contributions plan.
