Work on the first stage of the extensions to the off road cycleway linking Point Clare to Woy Woy is complete.
The Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, said the State Government had provided $100,000 towards work on the first section from Victory Pde to Tascott Railway Station on a dollar for dollar basis with Gosford Council.
"The new cycleway runs alongside Brisbane Water Drive connecting to the existing off-road cycleway opposite Tascott Rail Station,'" Ms Andrews said.
"In addition, a south bound on-road cycle lane has been provided between Victory Pde and Tascott Station connecting with the existing on-road cycle lane.
"This project is another example of the State Government and the council working together to provide improved and safer cycling facilities for Central Coast communities.
"Safe and accessible cycleways linking residential areas to work places, parks and shopping centres are important local facilities and this latest addition to the cycle network will be welcomed by the community," Ms Andrews said.
"This cycleway is part of the recently released 'Connecting the Central Coast Transport Action Plan' and new cycleways are vital part of the Governments Bike Plan 2010, which aims to attract even more people to cycling as a genuine transport alternative and a healthy recreational activity."
