The Chemically Induced Adhesive Arachnoiditis Sufferers of Australia (C.I.A.A.S.A.) pages on the Internet are jam-packed with information that can be used by the thousands of sufferers and those people supporting them.
The group, which has the head office in Umina, has utilised the Internet to provide information to the world.
With the information on the Internet, it allows the single office staff member to concentrate on the core business of the society that has aims such as "Education of the medical and allied professions, the general public, government officials and sufferers."
The site contains internal links to information for sufferers about the disease.
Other internal links provide information about how the disease was produced, a newsletter, an archive of past material and information about a demonstration, which occurred in 1999.
The site provides information in a fashion that the Internet was originally designed for, i.e. Scientific Research without the gloss and shine that has been achieved through the commercialisation of the Internet, yet the designer has added a few colours and background colours to the pages.
There is a single external link from the site to the web designer, but that link is still under construction.
Information on the site does mention other similar organisations in the world, but the hyperlinks are not available even though the text formatting appears to show hyperlinks.
While the web site does provide an email address and other contact information, the site does not provide any information to the general observer as to how current is the information.
The site foregoes any rules that a modern website designer must adhere to, but is worth a visit to catch up on a community organisation in our region.
