Fishing news

Inside Report: Over the past month, fishing has greatly improved.
Around the oyster leases, there have been good catches of bream, flathead and leatherjacket.
On Saratoga Flats, the odd jewfish is still about and some fairly good-sized whiting are also there to be had.
If throwing a line out at night, try for some tailor in Booker Bay.
Davistown and Woy Woy Hotel fishing clubs held fishing competitions on the weekend of April 8 and 9.
In Davistown, there were some good catches with the junior competition being taken out by Riley.
Newcomers to the area, Shannon Barling and son Chris did well, with 10 year old Chris landing a 64 cm kingfish.
For Woy Woy, Jamie Hayes caught a nice trevally. (I don’t think his dad helped with this one!).
Outside report: In a boat, off the rocks or on a beach, there are fish everywhere to be caught.
Kingfish are responding to metal lures on and around the reefs.
For the land-based angler, try Putty Beach for salmon, tuna and drummer.
Davistown competition outside winner was me with some nice samson fish, whiting and leatherjacket.
For the Woy Woy Hotel club, Bob Hall did well with some good catches of bream and kingfish.
Catch of the day went to Rob Langston with a bull mullet weighing 1.1 kg.

Good fishing!
