The Australian Colonial and Folk Dancers are a group of enthusiastic dancers whose main aim is, as our name suggests, to promote Colonial and Folk dancing. We demonstrate and teach dance in order that others may experience a part of Australian history and the joy of dance. Through our dances, we try to reflect the many different influences that have acted upon our Australian dance heritage since early settlement.

Our members have varied dance backgrounds and bring to the group a wealth of experience in different styles of dance, including Irish, Scottish, International, Playford, Contra, Ballroom and, of course, Australian Bush Dancing. We are veterans of many performances, both in Sydney and country areas, and have participated in a number of Folkloric Festivals at the Sydney Opera House.

Dancing to either our own tapes or live music, the group is available for functions from a formal dinner to a fete opening. With a choice of either day or evening costume, the Australian Colonial and Folk Dancers will add colour and elegance to any occasion with a colonial or heritage theme.

As part of our on-going commitment to Australian dance, we hold regular social dances, at which anyone with fundamental dance experience may explore a little more than basic bush dancing. We are actively seeking new and younger members for our group and invite you to join us for our next Dancers' Dance.
